"I remember that day. I remembered sitting by the beautiful Nile and watching you from the reflection on the water. You were watching me.. Or something because you glanced my way. I dared not look up because I did not know if I really could of. It was also the same day I felt dishonored to be my father's son. I used to be proud of who I was, even if I wasn't considered to be important to any one. I was merely looked at as the Intaro's son. I still recall those angry words that changed everything, 'I will not be apart of a pack who is ruled by an ignorant fool. You will be the fault of the nation because you can not see the warnings'. I never understood what he meant, perhaps it was because of the Slavery that would be ensuing or the treating of some of his own pack. I never thought Azuko was an ignorant fool, if anything I saw him as a wise man, who merely did not see the world was changing before it was too late. He was a victim of wrong circumstances", he said softly.
He looked down at his bloody shirt and softly sighed to himself; Blood, the lifeforce of every living creature, mortal or immortal. It was the one thing that could be innocently spilled for reasons no one could ever understand. It made him feel sad because it reminded him of the blood that was spilled for being born on the wrong side, like his little sister. He closed his eyes and determined that this was not the time. He opened them and looked at Sekhmet.

Finally braving a peek at Tarik, Sekhmet was surprised to see the soft look in his eyes. It was all impossible, the goings-on of the evening, but Thirteen was still shocked beyond belief. "You were looking at me that day?" She asked softly, more to herself than to him. "You were the son of the Beta, my mother assumed--" She cut herself off in time. Now was not the time to speak of such things, and Thirteen felt the normal stab in her gut when she thought of the day of her mother's death. That blood had been spilled for no reason, for Queen Neith had always been a very glorious being, much greater than the mere human that had murdered her.
"My father is a great man and a great leader for his people, but he tires of the throne," Thirteen said, assuming the role of princess-queen-ruler. "He does not enjoy ruling without his queen by his side, and the days of old have passed. He believes it is my turn to rule, but I have no desire to rule without a mate, same as him." She didn't know why she spoke of such things and therefore broke eye contact, feeling that the moment was becoming much too intimate for the night she had just had.
But her legs were trembling in a way she had not experienced in a very long time. It gave her the desire to change into her wolf form, but it also gave her the simple desire to change the situation altogether and leave. Flee. Something that was very much unlike Thirteen. "There has been much blood between our people, but I suddenly feel as if neither of us knows the true reason why. How odd it is, that hundreds and hundreds of years later, everything changes."
At a loss for words, Thirteen shrugged and glanced up at Tarik again, but only for a moment. What more did she have to say, since she felt she had already said too much?

Darin listened and smiled weakly. It was all surreal, but seemingly good. He thought and something popped up in his mind. He looked at her curiously and spoke.
"Your mother assumed what? If I may ask. Regardless of our people's past, we are still one.. merely changed by the world as it continued to move. I have always lived a life as I sought out to make it. I want a better tomorrow, but in doing so I know I take great risk to invoke change. I wish for change.. its a new day and era.. Its time for an end and a new beginning", he said softly.
(Ok.. Night.. I'm going to bed, sorry its short. See you tomorrow)

"My mother assumed a great many things," Thirteen stated, feeling very odd still. Tarik spoke so softly that she wasn't sure how she felt about such tenderness. "But we all have learned what assuming does." That silly human phrase that always made her grin a little, as it made her think of Shakespeare and the man whose head was turned into the head of a donkey.
Tarik was correct in that this was a different era, but Thirteen still wasn't sure what to think of this era. To her, it was good, but this battle suddenly seemed very burdensome and tiring to her. Perhaps if the war was ended, she would again feel the desire to rule. And perhaps she could go at it alone? Taking another look at Tarik, Thirteen knew she didn't want to rule alone, but her desires were always of the impossible, and her pair bond didn't stop short of her ridiculous wishes.
"My mother assumed you would be my mate, Tarik," Thirteen finally stated. As she spoke, though, she took a step back so she would stop herself from kissing the man in front of her. Any sort of physical contact seemed like it would be much too much. With all of the people she had been with, this was a different (and dangerous, but not in a violent way) situation; how would he react, how would she react? It drove Thirteen crazy to have to wait to know how he would respond to the information that she had just handed to him, but she felt he had the right to know, since it was technically information about him.

Darin blinked and looked at her. The news was alittle shocking, but he smiled alittle. Her mother had always been kind and well to him, even despite. He recalled that she once told him she was the son she never had and that she expected many things from him. Darin snapped back to reality and looked at Sehkmet.
"You know.. it shocks me alittle, but its not surprising to me if I really think of it. Your mother had been one of the greatest and kindest women I had known then. She once told me she wished me as a son.. I guess its because she was the only one who knew about my feelings for you and hoped it would blossom in later years".

An emotionally defensive growl rose in Thirteen's throat. He was speaking so openly ad plainly of her mother that she and no idea why, but it greatly offended her. "Don't speak of Neith," she said, both pain and frustration in her voice. The thought didn't cross her mind that Tarik perhaps didn't know of her death. It still seemed so new to Thirteen, since it had only been about two-hundred years. The pain was still tangible to the girl who loved her mother with all her heart. She was my world, Thirteen thought.
Again, another memory bombarded her, as it had not in a very long time... In the shade of the pavilion, having dismissed all of the human servants, a dazzlingly beautiful young woman walked in. Striding up to the woman who looked exactly like her (to human eyes; to Lycan senses, the two looked different, from the slight difference in eye shade to their scent), Sekhmet Artanis, Princess Lycan, bowed down low to her mother. "Oh dear one, stand to your feet," Queen Neith said with a warm smile. Standing to her feet, Sekhmet rushed to greet her mother. "The day has not quire come, but you have seen where I spend my time. I love you dearly, but cannot allow the weak humans to see you until the time is right. What is it you need?"
With a quiet sigh, Sekhmet sat down at her mother's feet. "I have a dilemma, Mother. You know of my feelings regarding Azetipin Khons, but I feel as if there is no progress towards a relationship with him. I want to spend my time here, among the humans, so I can study their thought processes and see if, perhaps, I am missing something with Tarik or perhaps even find that he is not designed for me. Please, give me your place; spend time with father and perhaps my own mate will come to me."
It was difficult for Sekhmet to speak of, but she just... needed this for herself. After a few moments of consideration, Neith sighed as well and nodded. Pursing her lips, she stood and had her daughter rise as well. Kissing her forehead, Neith placed her daughter in the seat. "You have seen me at work without the knowledge of the humans, so you may choose your time. I leave you here, my love and my heart." And Sekhmet became Neither.
She had been so far away from Tarik for so long, perhaps that is why she grew apart and allowed herself to attempt to hate him. "My mother was one of the most glorious beings in the world." Thirteen seated herself gracefully and shrugged. Perhaps this meeting was a bad idea, with all the memories she had suppressed coming again to mind.

Darin finched at her tone and defensive growl. He put his hands up in a symbol of peace. Why would she act like this? Then Darin remembered, her mother was dead and even he knew the great bond that she had with her mother. He sighed and his eyes soften as he watched her. Her words made him smile and he slowly took a seat next to her.
"She was.. and I'm sorry if I offended you. I really did admire and look up to your mother. She was the perfect definition of a goddess.. as are you. I wish she was still around.. I know how you must have cherished and loved her, and its a tragedy what happened. I'm sure.. though, she would be proud of the woman you became".
After he spoke, he closed his eyes and suddenly a memory came flooding into his sight...It was a summer evening and the warmth was perfect for walking. Neither had been walking alone along the courtyard of the palace. Azetipin had also taking to wandering, mainly because he loved the night so much better than the day. He hadn't noticed her there, until he accidently ran into her. He fell down, her grace never moving and when he looked up, he scrambled into a bow. 'I'm soo sorry your excellence, please forgive me", he said quickly. She smiled and bent down, taking his hand and helping him up. She kissed his head and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Azetipin, you are not allowed to bow.. You are very much adored like you were my son. I cherish your company, now what has got you out so late?" she asked with a tender voice. He looked at her and sighed, but smiled. "I can't sleep.. I guess I'm wondering if Sehkmet likes me.. I watch her all the time, but she rarely knows I exist". Neither thought a moment and then grinned, She bent down to become eye level with a preteen Azetipin. "Well why don't you make yourself known? I know for a fact you may be surprised with the results, now off to bed you. I know you love the night, which why you are named after the moon god, but you need sleep if you are to do anything tomorrow", he said in abit of a motherly tone. Azetipin grinned and nodded, gently hugged the alphaess and then ran off to bed.The memory made him smile and he did make himself know, but Sekhmet was abit of a mystery.

"For so long, I have fled from everything she wanted of me..." Sekhmet admitted softly. "She understood my somewhat destructive ways, but I do not know if she would like who I am. Fleeing from my own people... but she just wouldn't understand. She led the perfect life! She had the perfect mate and lived in the most glorious of times. Me, though... I feel as if I am a mere reflection of her, the moon to her sun."
Her words were soft, a whisper a human would barely be able to hear, let alone understand. But they were open; thoughts of her mother always created an openness in Thirteen which, if she was able to open up altogether, would be a rather good quality in an Alpha Female. Unfortunately, some of Sekhmet's best traits had been suppressed after the death of her mother. Snapping out of it after that, though, Sekhmet shook her head ever so slightly and moved away from Tarik by a fraction.
A sudden suspicion rose in Thirteen's mind that, perhaps, all of this evening had been a plot created by the Intaro to infiltrate Azuko's pack. But Thirteen was finished; she didn't want to say anything else. More than anything, she didn't want to be in this ridiculous situation anymore. Oh Mother, you knew the fates so well... but what of me? What did the stars have mapped out for me? Is the moon calling my name? If the moon calls me and Azetipin was named for the moon, was this all written long before I was born? Tell me something, mother! Standing to her feet, Thirteen stuck out her hand.
"Well Darin, it's been very nice to see you again," she said, feeling rather robotic in her actions. "Perhaps we will see each other again soon? That could be... pleasant." She was just so scared by all of this, but Thirteen had full control of her feelings now and just seemed... emotionless.

Darin continued to watch her, listening to her, lost in her voice. He seemed much in a trance and when she moved, he snapped out of it. He blinked and shook his head, then looked at her as she was bidding him farewell. She had changed and was now back to what she had been previously; emotionless. He stood with a weak smile and nodded, but he took her hand and gently kissed the back. He let it go and looked at her.
"Likewise Sekhmet. I do hope we meet again.. I rather enjoyed your company again", he said with a smile.

"I am quite sure what we shall meet again, Tarik," Thirteen Eschaton stated. She was walking backwards slowly, desiring greatly to leave the man who made her think much too much of home. Her heart was pounding, but Thirteen was keeping it from beating out of control. She need to go think... and get Tarik out of her mind.
