"I am NOT some mindless soldier! I am a Huntress, taught by the best, to defend humans, not kill needlessly! There is a difference!!" Mikaela whispered furiously, her eyes shimmering dangerously as she pressed her weight harder onto Cloud. She slipped her blade from his neck, but grasped onto his collar with her left hand. She reared back her right hand and held it there for a moment.
"And no, I guess your methods don't work.." Mikaela growled and swiftly brought her blade down... next to Cloud's head. Her features were peaceful again, her voice plush velvet. "But you're not much older than me, and had much more on your mind I'm sure. You know why I'm a huntress, but you never told me why you became a hunter..." She genuinely wanted to know, and her soft expression gave it away; she cared about people and their stories.
Mikaela sat there, arms crossed loosely across her chest, her amber eyes softening as she looked into Cloud's own. She uncrossed her arms finally and started unwinding the chain from around her master, but unknowingly kept him pinned as she remained on top of him. To her, the fight was over. She wasn't assuming she'd won, but perhaps she'd done well enough.

“The best,” Cloud scoffed, shaking his head in disagreement. His own mentor perhaps, yes, but not he personally. All the while that she spoke, the young Hunter still fought tirelessly against his bonds. But her words pleased him dreadfully. He couldn’t be more grateful that she knew there was a difference – the idea of the others knowing still terrified him. Had it been another, he feared he wouldn’t have hesitated to take his sword upon them.
Eyes wide as she drew back her blade, the blond cringed as she brought it down with force – the instinctive reflex to close his eyes setting in pretty quick. At least it was his student to bring the end....
What?
"But you're not much older than me, and had much more on your mind I'm sure. You know why I'm a huntress, but you never told me why you became a hunter..."
Why didn’t she just kill me? he wondered inwardly, trying to sit up slightly but feeling trapped, vunerable beneath the heavy links. “It was a mistake... I just wish to go back and choose a different way out,” he muttered quietly, relieved that she began unravelling the chainage around his chest. For now, maybe he’d just talk – but he wasn’t about to let it end so easily.
Swallowing lightly, whilst trying to remain focused on anything other than the girl who still leant across him, who still held him down, Cloud sat up the little he could, sighing quietly. “I didn’t have parents to follow, or to copy, as a kid. Instead, my world was faerie tales, children’s stories, you know the sort. The ones where they’d slay the dragons, or kill the beast...” he began, a sheepish blush of embarrassment crossing over his pale cheeks as he gazed down at his fallen sword, “All the boys in my class claimed that they’d do likewise, that they’d be the one to save a princess or to defeat a witch... When I agreed, they shunned me, didn’t want me around – said I was too pathetic and insignificant to save anyone, let alone actually kill a monster.”
All the while he spoke, the blond’s bright eyes had faded slightly at the memories, his voice had been quiet and almost saddened. “I guess I just wanted to prove them wrong,” he muttered bitterly, shrugging in what he hoped was an off-handed manner.

Mikaela listened, her eyes softening as he explained a bit of his story. So he had joined to slay monsters, just like she had, but he still didn't tell her why. She sat up, letting go of his arms but still keeping him pinned enough. If he tried to fight with her here, they would both go falling sideways; hitting the ground at such an odd angle from this height would kill them, and Cloud knew that just as well as Mikaela did.
She moved her right hand just inside the side slit of her skirt and placed her fingers on the edges of her blades, ready to strike if Cloud wanted to continue. Her skin was slightly exposed because of her movement, but she didn't realize it and kept her eyes on Cloud. She noticed when his eyes dulled, and a small frown creased her soft features.
"Well, you have proved them wrong." Mikaela spoke softly, caressing her blades with her thumb, wondering when he'd strike. She caught the bitterness in his voice and was saddened by it. She wasn't sure what to do or say, and bit the bottom right corner of her lip for a moment. She shifted so he wasn't pinned beneath her anymore and helped pull him up...and hugged him. "We all make mistakes.." she whispered in his ear, her eyes getting wet with memories of her sister, her mother...what had happened to them..and all the times she and her father had barely escaped death when they began fighting. She didn't want to fight cloud anymore today, and had dropped her guard...
