Some would say that beauty was a skin-deep thing. Looking around, Thirteen saw that all around her. Women dressed head-to-toe in only the most expensive brands, men primped and groomed to look perfect. In the Lycan's eyes, though, all she saw was their imperfections. She could smell their feelings, could see every minute detail that made them look slightly off to her.
Oh yes, she was in a cynical mood. Even with advancements pertaining to Tarik, the Lycaness was still her old self. She hated humans, what they did to her mother... what they very well would love to do to her. But that will never happen, Thirteen thought, the scowl in her silent voice showing on her face. They will never defeat me like they defeated her.
Along with the humans, Thirteen was wearing the top-brand clothes, but she knew she looked perfect in them. The Egyptian Lycan felt beautiful and looked it, even with the scowl traced on her features. Dark eyes scanned the area for others of non-human descent. They were in the area, as they always were, living among the humans and trying to blend in while also standing out.
Such a dull day it has been, perhaps the evening will bring some fun, Thirteen thought. Dusk was coming quickly and she was hoping for an interesting night. Thirteen wasn't tired at all and didn't plan on sleeping, although a meal would have been nice. As she strode along the streets in her sleek black heels, accompanied by perfect jeans and a black top, Thirteen looked fierce and bored, not always the best combination.

Darin yawned and sighed to himself. 'Mind as well wander' he thought. He looked around all the human passerbyes, he didn't have to come here, but he seemed more so in the mood for fresh ancient air than he was willing to admit. He wore a black t-shirt and jeans, both weren't really trying to hide the muscles underneath. He never had been afraid to be out and about, even if his hazel eyes looked little abnormal when they would turn green or blue from time to time. Although, he wasn't thinking on the people of the day, he was thinking of Thirteen. It was just a weird and complicated world, but now it meant more to him because Thirteen was a part of it. None the less, he tried to watch where he was going as he walked, he'd rather not run into anyone because he wasn't exactly good at speaking the language. It had been sad, but he managed to atleast say a few words of Italian. He watched everyone, when one particular scent caught his nose and his eyes soon caught the glimpse of who it came from. He managed at smile and did his best to sneak up of Thirteen, the look he had seen earlier made him grin.
"Are you really that bored?" he asked in a curious and friendly tone.

Thirteen had smelled Darin approaching and a slight smirk donned her features. Turning as he spoke, she shook her head. "Not as bored as annoyed," she stated, her voice a bit pious. "These humans are all so... conceited about the way they look, but they are not so beautiful. They think they have all the time in the world, but I can kill any of them now. They have no power, but have blinded their eyes to the real world they live in."
It was nice to have Darin come along-- Thirteen hadn't even known he was in the city, but it was wonderful to have him there. She had missed him the past few days, since they had parted. Thirteen had business to take care of in the city which had increased the level of her annoyance slightly; humans were such pitiful beings.
"What business do you have with the beings?" she inquired, turning to sneer at a look from a man she would have devoured before ever looking over at all. He looked spooked as Thirteen's eyes turned black with her anger. Tossing her hair in a satisfied manner, Thirteen allowed her eyes to change back to normal as she looked back to Darin. He truly was a sight for sore eyes.

Darin smiled, but her words made his smile falter. He never looked at them like that, just because he wasn't human once, didn't mean that he looked to them like that. It irked her to hear her say such things, looking down on them like she was so far much better than them. It made him remember back to everything that had happened in the past and it made him gulp at his thump in his throat. He blinked and shook his head. He looked at her gently and spoke truthfully.
"They are not as you say. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, therefore it will not matter if they really are beautiful or not, beauty is not always external, but more so internal. I do not recall you looking like them this way when they worshiped you, or how your mother looked at them. What has made you hate them so and see them as so? But in any case, I was here looking for you, one and two, I was here to watch the passerbyes in the mean time as I wandered. I was going to maybe try the local food, but I found you".

Rolling her eyes as Darin pretty much scolded her, Thirteen tried to at least hold back her sneer. "You were never constantly surrounded by them... and I hated them in Egypt, too, but not as much as I do now. No... back then, I kept them around to serve me and for a nice snack-- they are rather delicious, some of them," there was a mischievous look on the femme's face and she continued.
"I do not believe they have ever understood the things that go on around them; they are dense, self-centered creatures with a population much too high for my liking. Besides, those scum killed the most glorious being who ever walked the earth." Oh yes, Thirteen had very high praise for her mother. Even when they disagreed on something, her mother was the most gracious and patient being, with wisdom beyond even her great number of years. It was Thirteen who always was compared to Queen Neith, but could never quite reach the bar that her mother had set.
Now that her mother was gone, all Thirteen could think about was the great disappointment her mother would feel with how everything has gone; from the war, to Thirteen's lifestyle, her mother would wonder what happened and when life had lost its near-perfection. It painted Thirteen daily to think of all the things her mother would say to her, all the things Thirteen never had a chance to say. And it was those humans that took her away on that day in the very city Thirteen walked in now. It had been a terrible time for the Azuko pack, and for Thirteen especially.

"Then you don't give them the credit. You call them inferior and weak and yet they were able to do just that. Humans kill what they do not understand, much like we used to. Let go of the mind set. They could very well kill us as we could kill them. The only difference between them and us is that we can easily be higher on the food chain than them and we can change. I think your mother understood them as they understood her.. It was just unfortunate that a group of humans who didn't understand her murdered her. Come now.. let's get off this topic because I don't wish to get into a quarrel with you", he said with a smile.

The way Darin brushed off the topic of her mother pained Thirteen and she barely withheld her scowl again. Her eyes were hard, cold, and revealed her pain as she would wish they would not. "Do you not know the story of her death, Darin?" She demanded, stopping in the street to look at him. Her eyes were black as she remembered the day of her mother's death.
"It took six Hunters to take her down. They shot me once, thinking it would be enough, and the scar still stands on my shoulder." As she spoke, Thirteen moved her shirt to show the scar on her left shoulder, a silvery look to it. "I sucked out the poison with much pain, but I could not help mother. She fought hard, but six Hunters with six of their ridiculous guns, filled with silver bullets... she did not last long. It was an ambush... a massacre... they ripped her to shreds with those bullets. And only one of them died at her hand. Three of the others I have killed, the others died later on by others of my pack."
Her eyes changed from black to their dark gray-blue and she sighed. One of her beautiful hands ran though her dark hair as she did out of habit. No tears were in her eyes, for she could not cry for her mother; it would be too painful. "I hate them all," she growled at the very end, turning to begin her walk once more.

Darin stood his ground and didn't at once flinch. He listened and sighed. He looked around and then looked at her, taking her hand and gently kissing it.
"You shouldn't hate them. No matter what a few did, there are good people still in the world. You once hated me, but look at us. You mustn't judge everyone for a few bad apples. I feel the same way about humans for what they did to your mother, but those humans are dead and can never do so again. Just like beauty, you have to know where to look to find the good of a person or race".

It was difficult to resist Darin's charms, but Thirteen shook her head even as her heart melted. His lips touched her hand, but she felt her heart still slightly chilled. "I can't," she said stubbornly.
"They took my mother, Darin... I just... they're stupid." Her lower lip stuck out a little in a pout and she shrugged, unsure of what else to say. Thirteen was stubborn. She wouldn't budge on a topic such as this. "Besides, it was practically written in the stars that we would someday be together. I'm not going to be with a human, so I don't have to love them if I don't want. I don't have any choice but to love you."
As soon as the words were said, Thirteen realized they had come out wrong, but she could not take them back. Her perfect lips pursed and her eyes widened marginally as she looked at Darin.

Darin blinked and his head cocked back. His jaw dropped alittle and for a split moment, he felt his heart break. So she saw that she had to love him and be with him, like a forced relationship. He let go of his hold of Thirteen and looked down.
"But I am around humans.. But I really didn't expect you to see me as a forced mate.. Is that really true? Do you only like me because you feel like you're forced to? Like I'm some last resort?" He asked softly.

"No, jeez, that's not the way I meant it, Darin," Thirteen stumbled. She cursed and ran her hand through her hair once more. "It's just that... I meant that there's no one else for me. You're the only one and I wouldn't be able to pick otherwise, even if I wanted to-- Which I don't. I want you and only you..."
Thirteen hoped her words helped, but was sure she had done enough damage for one day. It wasn't right, what she'd said, but she was just so frustrated with him! Darin was too soft sometimes, but it seemed to be the balance that held them together, so she was surprised to find herself critiquing it, even if only for a moment. "I didn't it," she whispered, taking his hand and hoping he wouldn't let go of it."

Darin looked at her and then looked at her hand. He sighed softly and smiled. He gently squeezed her hand and moved closer to her.
"I believe you.. and Its ok Thirteen.. I easily forgive a wrong word combination.. well actually I can easily forgive you", he said with a smile.

Smiling, Thirteen tried to be with everything which had taken only a moment in time to pass; when one lived for so many years, a conversation seemed to be only a second in time. She held back a sigh and just continued to walk before realizing that she was late for her appointment.
"I actually have somewhere I need to be, Darin," she informed him. "I have to inform this woman that I don't model and won't model for her. Some ridiculous gag from one of the Lycans of the pack-- they sent in pictures of me and a few of the other females... now these desperate humans won't stop bothering us so I'm going to make sure she understands that I don't want to be a part of that part of the human world."
Rolling her eyes in a comedic way, Thirteen tossed her hair and winked at Darin. "Besides, I'm much too beautiful for them."

Darin laughed and shook his head. He smiled and watched her, slightly pouting alittle.
"Well I dunno.. I'd think you're very egotistical..But no... that's not true because as far as I know, you are the most beautiful", he said with a grin and wink.

With a slight grin, Thirteen rolled her eyes, but made sure Darin knew he was teasing. "Well, I really do need to go," she said with a small sigh.
"Sorry, got to get this ridiculous business taken care of," she added, leaning up to kiss Darin on the cheek. Of course, Thirteen left out the fact that she would most likely devour the woman as well, since she was rather hungry for some old-fashioned human meat, since it was so fine.
