Mikaela could not understand for the life of her why Cloud pushed her weapons down, and immediately held them back up to the demon, shooting a somewhat angry questioning glance at him. What was wrong with him? You don't lower your weapons in the presence of demons..
She listened intently to Cloud, the anger and sadness apparent very much to her, but wouldn't be so much to the demon. Her amber eyes stayed hard as resin, and sparkling as topaz. He could very possibly be making another mistake if she wasn't careful..
Mikaela swiftly unchained the demon from the post, but kept her weapon wrapped around him so he couldn't run. If he phased into the underworld, she'd be right behind him because of it. She raised her shotgun to his face and wanted desperately to shove it in his mouth, make him taste cold steel so he knew she wasn't playing, but she didn't.
"I agree," Mikaela started moving toward the entrance, her weapon acting like a leash. "You should go, demon. We don't just accept someone without proof or any rhyme or reason. You have none as far as I can see." As far as she was concerned, he would have to prove himself. But right now, interrupting a training session and singling out these two while they were alone... That was just asking to be killed. Suicidal immortal demon... Who woulda thunk it?
"Perhaps when you've proven yourself, we can talk then. But for now.... You'd do well to obey my Master's warnings..."

Malachy grinned, he was glad they where not taking him at his word. But he was telling the truth. He looked down at the chains that where holding him. They asked him to leave but never untied him. He rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance. His wings suddenly sprouted out of his back slipping between the coils in the chain around him. in one swift motion he leaped upward and flapped his wings to give himself lift, which took the chain and anything holding on to it with him.
He landed on the roof just above the entry way to the monastery,"I will take my leave but I would suggest living by your word, that you are trying to eliminate threats to humanity. This will not be our final meeting and i hope that I am not the one to bring the fourth horseman upon you." he gave Cloud a knowing look there was something wrong with him and he intended to find out what, eventually.

Feeling her gaze on him, the young Hunter spared a sideways glance at Mikaela - watching in annoyance as she immediately held up her weapons once more. Okay, so maybe his focus was sliding, but that couldn't be helped. Why had his parents come into this? He'd learned to move on. He didn't need to hear about them anymore, and now, all of a sudden, they were crashing back into his consciousness. He didn't want them to be on his mind, he wanted to carry on doing what he loved - without fear of their disapproval or judgement.
Hell, now this demon had Cloud considering whether he had chosen the right path.
Maybe I should just quit and give up...
Growling as wings sprouted from the shoulderblades of this Malachy, the blond frowned, running after the two. Why did creatures have to be so irritatingly alert? As long as he didn't drag Mikaela along with him....
"Then we will build up our strength untill we do meet again," he spoke firmly, watching as the demon landed above the entry. The Hunter tensed under the look, but he remained strong, as subtle as he could. "When that time comes, there will be no hesitation to kill you, demon."

In fact, Mikaela had been dragged along, her weapon still wrapped around the thing. She'd kept him tied up and was going to let him go when she took him out of the door, so that if a fight did ensue, it was not indoors. She growled as she was dragged, her boot tips barely scraping the floor, outside.
"STUPID DEMON! STOP FOR A DAMN MINUTE!" Ah, she'd lost a bit of her self-control and reverted to her former self. Tsk, tsk, Mikaela thought to herself, and regained composure, still glaring amber daggers at the stupid idiot. She twirled the right end of her bo, blade whirring, and chucked it toward the demon, pulling the left side at the same time. Her weapon swung straight forward, untying the damn thing, and she retracted it so it was back to looking like just wood.
Well, at least it was strong enough it didn't break. That was a good thing at least.
Mikaela grumbled and twirled her shotgun back out of her holster, which she'd put away when she retrieved her bo, and aimed at the demon. "If you ever try that on me again, your brains will be splattered on the ground. Understand?!" Yeah, she was pissed at the damned thing.
She shot an accidentally angry glance at Cloud. "Why did you lower your damn weapon in there?" She whispered, then louder. "Get going, don't turn around, don't come out, and leave the dead out of this, cursed one. You drag up anyone else from another life, I will hunt you down myself..." Mikaela turned her scorching eyes on Cloud. This was not a request, it was a factual statement, and if Cloud tried to stop her.. well.. Mikaela chuckled a hmph in her velvety voice, and returned to glaring at the demon. It should leave. Now.

Malachy couldn't help smiling at Mikaela's loss of self control. Mortals, especially those that where younger than a hundred never seemed to have much patience. or self control. He would indeed be seeing cloud again but he would try to do so in a situation where they where forced to take his side. He may even have to arrange the situation himself. It may risk lives but it would save so many others.
"I'll stop raising the dead when you stop yelling at me." He said mockingly, yeah he was one of the good guys, but he was still a demon. "Let us home you are still on this side of life and death when I return." With that he leaped from the roof and back into the sky. He would keep an unseen eye on them from now on. Until he could speak with them under more... rational circumstances.

"STUPID DEMON! STOP FOR A DAMN MINUTE!"
Shaking his head slightly at her yells, Cloud rose a disapproving eyebrow and sighed quietly to himself. By now, he would have hoped she knew how to contain herself during such a time - it seemed he was wrong. Though, he suposed he had no real reason to talk, he had just given up and let a demon walk free. At least she still had the sense to untie herself.
Coming up to stand just a fraction behind her, the blond slung his heavy sword back over into it's holster and crossed his arms over his chest. A sudden grimace was clear on his expression as a jolt of pain shot up to his shoulder from the scarrings of his left arm. "I wouldn't try her, demon. You won't know what's happenning before it's too late," he smirked off-handedly as his cool gaze narrowed under the demon's last words.
Ignoring her whispers as he watched Malachy leave, Cloud tossed his half-coat to one side, inspecting the darkening marks that charred his pale skin. "You won't step a foot after him," he corrected harshly, barely glancing up as he felt her heated gaze bear down upon him. "I do not want your father on my back if you go off and end up hurt. You will hunt only if and when you have my consent," he continued monotonously, a slight annoyance growing in his tone.

Mikaela's topaz-glowing eyes softened, now just softly glowing embers. She turned just as Cloud raised his sleeve, and Mikaela's eyes strained in pain. The chase was long forgotten now, and Mikaela raised her hand and let it hang there a moment, hesitating. Her fingertips brushed softly against the marks on his skin.
"He caused you pain..." she whispered softly, her head hanging a little and blonde waves falling just in front of her jawline. Her lithe fingers slowly encircled his bicep with a very soft but firm grasp. Her eyes slowly made their way down his arm to see the damage caused by the poison in his blood, pain creasing her forehead even more. At the mention of her father, however, she frowned; the sorrow did not leave her face though.
"He won't. He knows I'm bull-headed. I get it from him, really... Cloud..." Mikaela let her words linger, hanging in the air unfinished. She took in a slow breath and moved just a bit closer; they were almost touching.
"...How did this happen...? Can I help somehow...?" Her voice sounded very young and somewhat afraid. She was open, and almost hurting with honesty. She almost sounded kind of like a little girl that way. Almost...

Inhaling the cool air sharply, Cloud flinched as her soft fingertips touched his skin. "I caused myself this pain," he muttered in response, shaking his head slowly at her whisper. To him, it was true. It was his own pure naivity that had put him in such a position.
His shaded gaze trailed down to watch her fingers as she grasped his bicep firmly. "I don't want you chasing down demons, maybe something else... not a demon," he sighed, his body tense from how she held his arm. She really did keep putting him in such vunerable positions. Did she really need to be so close to him? How was he possibly meant to concentrate with her proximity so close to his own?
"I was stupid, naive, gullable," he whispered, his breath shaking slightly - unnerved once more by her closeness. "I thought I could take down a high member of the demon court," Cloud explained quietly, running his free hand through his blond spikes. "I don't need to tell you what happenned when I found them... I don't know, Mik, I don't think there's anything either of us could do."

Mikaela's brow furrowed; why was he so nervous? He said now hunting down demons. "But...!" She sighed; he had his reasons. His self-deprecation, however, threw her off. Stupid and naive, she got, but... "Gullible...?"
She tried to figure out what that could mean. Perhaps he'd fallen for a trick, much like what Malachy had just tried with them? Maybe she could get the information from her father... No, he would not tell her, not if Cloud hadn't.
When Cloud said there was nothing to do, her amber eyes became quite alert and her head shot up. "No, there's got to be something..." It was half-statement, half-plea. Her free hand moved quickly and instinctively from his arm to his neck and her fingers brushed lightly against his skin. She was slightly panicked.
"There has to be... Maybe.. Maybe we..." She thought about chasing down Malachy and asking him, but he'd been amoral during his lifetime and was apparently cursed as well, which made asking him how to reverse it moot anyway.
There had to be something though...

"No demons," he repeated in a firm tone, his eyes flickering with irritation for the smallest of moments. He knew perfectly well that it was more than likely she could bring down a creature on her own, hell, she was as good a fighter of him at least. He just couldn't help but hesitate. If time repeated itself, then his own mistakes would never be corrected, only continuously made day-after-day.
Lowering his gaze with a small shake of his head, Cloud sighed glumly - blond spikes falling over his pale features as he tried to hide his expression. "I... She...." he muttered, trying to figure a way to put his words without having her grow angry with him. "I just... thought she liked me," he whispered, closing his eyes with a half-sneer. "Guess I was wrong," he growled bitterly, rolling his eyes whilst keeping them focused on anything other than Mikaela.
Subconciously leaning into her light touch, the hunter supressed a small, soft, purr from his throat. "I saw a light... Maybe, maybe two, three weeks ago?" he shook himself, trying to compose his sentences with a light blush and moving away from Mikaela.
"It was so beautiful... I felt lighter, happier - as if all my pain, all this poison had disappeared... Now, I don't think there is anything," Cloud inhaled the air around him with a deep breath, feeling the oxygenated thorns sting his throat.

Understanding dawned, and broke into Mikaela's features. "Ah." she muttered quietly. She sighed, her amber eyes looking sightlessly just past Cloud's blond head. She very absentmindedly left her hand where it was and let her fingers play on his skin.
"It happens to all of us at some point..." Herself very much included. She'd fallen for someone a long time ago, when she was still innocent, before her mother and sister...
"A light?" Mikaela's head snapped up and she held Cloud firmly, but softly, in place by his shoulder. "What do you mean? I think... I think maybe there is something we can do. Tell me what you mean first, though..." She moved closer to Cloud, closing the distance he'd made, and gave him a pleading look. "Please..?"

Okay, he really really wished she would move away. He wasn't suposed to feel attracted in anyway to anyone... let alone a young woman whom he had attempted to mould into the perfect skillfullist and hunter. He sighed softly, irritated with his own past-selfs stupidity and vunerability.
"I was trained to hunt, to help humanity... Not to go chasing after some demoness with my own intentions," he muttered, lifting his hands gently to where she grasped his shoulder and pushing her away. It was a childish mistake on his behalf, but he really didn't feel in the mood to be alert.
Demonic eyes flickered slightly in worry as the young hunter glanced towards all possible enterances to the monastery. "No, your father would kill me. He didn't put all so many hours into creating my life for no reason."

Mikaela's breath caught and she held it, listening intently to Cloud. He spoke and moved away, opposite of what Mikaela wanted. And for some stupid reason, it hurt. She looked pleadingly into Cloud's intense cobalt eyes and bit the inside of her bottom lip. She wouldn't cry. She wouldn't. She. would...
Mikaela turned around and stalked into the ancient building, spearing several beams as she shot daggers from her fingers outward. Stupid idiot. Stupid, stupid, stupid idiot! He was bent on dying, and she was bent on saving his life, and this was going to go nowhere fast. She smashed a few floorboards into dust with her fist, not caring if Cloud heard her or not, and then smiled in victory. She hadn't cried. No tears had fallen. They were still kept at bay in the corners of her eyes.
Triumphant, Mikaela marched back outside, a very mean scowl on her face, toward Cloud. Before she knew what she was doing, she had him pinned to a tree, her bo clattering loudly on the ground behind them, and she punched the trunk, creating a nice little dent, as she started in on him. "Now you listen here! I will not let you die, and you will not give up on me! I care, god dammit, and you're going to, as well! I don't care what I have to do, but we are finding a damn cure. Do you understand me!?" Her expression was angry as tears started to fall. She had him by the shoulder against the tree and let go as quickly as she had pinned him.
"Now...no whining and no moping around, and I'm tired of your damn 'woe is me' attitude. Get it together. You made a mistake, so what. We find a cure, no big deal. I'm sure we could find a demon or two to torture some answers out of before we kill them." Mikaela swiftly picked her bo back up and swung it into the monastery; it landed with a distant thud. If this didn't work, she didn't know what she would do. Cloud had been around...well..forever, really. He couldn't leave her. And then she didn't know if she could handle him ever leaving, even when she was much older. The thought simply scared her half to death.
She stood there, back to cloud, and turned her head to the side just so. A tear streamed down her cheek and she roughly wiped it away before taking a single, faltering step toward the building to retrieve her weapons like a good student would.
He couldn't leave.

Closing his eyes and turning away at the look she gave him, the hunter sighed to himself - pushing back down his sleeve. Why was she so determined to help him? He'd already given up, why couldn't she just accept that and let him die in peace... or worse.
His gaze fluttered upwards slightly as she stalked off, wincing ever-so slightly as floorboards crumbled. It was tempting, to say the least, to follow her inside - to apologise, and to just let her think there was some answer to save him.
Or he could lecture her on controlling her anger...
Looking up with a monotonous expression, his eyes widdening slightly at the dark, anger-ridden scowl that plastered her facial features. Grunting softly as she pushed him forcefully back into the bark, Cloud lowered his vivid gaze away from his capture.
"I..." he snapped back, grimacing slightly as he watched small, moist droplets form in the corners of her eyes. "I understand," he muttered softly, his expression on of defeat. No, he was not going to banter his sodden sorries and hope she'd forgive him. He wouldn't apologise. "I just don't know how long I've got..." he sneered somewhat under his breath as she let go off him.
Shooting her a small, irritated glare, Cloud nodded sharply, "Fine. Then you can hunt them only under my own supervision." Watching her wipe the tear from her cheek, he sighed - really hating having to be this way with her.
Following her in, he rested gently against the monastery wall - smiling slightly as he looked at her. "Hey, Mik... Don't cry, tears make you look weak."

Mikaela grumbled. Fine, that would be the compromise. "Fine" she snapped, feeling stupid for starting to cry...for starting to have stupid feelings for someone. He followed her inside and she shuffled around, not knowing what to do. She glared daggers at the interior walls as she heard Cloud come in behind her. Stupid she thought to herself, her topaz eyes welling again.
"Shut up, Cloud. Or I will strangle you.." Probably easier to be pissed at him than show what she really felt. What did she really feel? That was a confusing question, without a very clear answer. And her words wouldn't work to help with it, either.
At Cloud's quip, however, she shot some blades in his general direction. She wouldn't hit him, but she could make him shut up for a while. She was angrier at herself more than at him. How could she get feelings for someone after all these years? Someone unavailable, at that. Stupid Mikaela. Stupid tears. They started again and she jumped to one of the higher rafters and sat there.
"Fine," she repeated, voice steely, but shaky. If he knew her any bit as she knew he did, he'd know she was crying. Damn it to hell. "When do we start, and where do we go? Since you're the stupid leader... old man.." She mumbled the last bit, her amber gaze watery as she pouted, eyes hateful, at one of the many walls in the place.
Stupid tears.
