Even as she entered the hotel with a weary Darin limping next to her, Thirteen could feel the inner turmoil of her soul. It was standing at a crossroads, unsure of which fork in the road to take. Her mother's presence was laced through the entire situation, and Thirteen knew the late Queen Neith was with her.
As she walked to the elevator, Thirteen went over her two possibilities in her head. For one, she could continue on hating the beings who destroyed her beloved mother, and grow even deeper in her hate by extending it to the Demons. On the other hand, she could battle through the situation at hand and come out on the other side more understanding of life and the happenings of it.
But I hate them so... Thirteen thought, repulsed by the thought of trying to understand humans. What did humans ever to do you, Daughter? I loved them even when they hurt me, for they simply do not understand.Thirteen knew that voice anywhere... It was her mother... so strange, to hear her voice again that the Lycaness felt her heart soar. But was this the right decision? As the elevator rang that they were at their floor, Thirteen continued to think. She opened the door of the large suite and led Darin to the bed before sitting down next to him and running her fingers through his hair, doing her best to comfort him as her mind wandered.[/center]

Darin shivered alittle and breathed slowly. He groaned as he sat on the bed, looking at her. The feeling of her fingers in his hair did feel quite comforting, but even he could see she was thinking of other things. He smiled at her weakly and reached for her other hand, holding it and kissing it gently.
"I do love you Sekhmet.. oh.. I'm sorry.. Thirteen", he said with a smile as he continued, "But you shouldn't be afraid.. I know your mother would be proud of you.. and it wasn't hard to figure out what you were thinking about...hehe".
He then looked around and coughed up some blood, he looked at her and cleared his throat as he wiped it off his hand onto his already bloody clothes. He groaned alittle as he gently laid his head on her shoulder.
"mmm you smell nice..um.. I think I need that steak love.. I feel lightheaded.. and..er... insane".

Thirteen smiled at Darin as she allowed him to pull her from her thoughts. "You can call me whatever you want, love," she said softly, not caring what he called her in such a private place. As Darin coughed up more blood, she wondered at the severity of the situation, but couldn't help but smile as he complimented her even as he was in pain.
"Why do you feel insane?" She asked, wondering what he meant. "One rare steak coming right up," she added, getting up and going over to the well-sized kitchen area. In the refrigerator, there was a good amount of steak, practically the only thing there. She wasn't surprised that Darin had caught a whiff of it, and was happy to prepare him a slice. It was rubbed with a nice herb mixture and very tender, worth the price she had paid for it.
Sticking it on a plate, Thirteen paused. "You don't want this cooked, do you?" she inquired as she walked over with the raw steak. "I just eat it like this..." She felt odd admitting to that, for even some Lycans found it odd to eat rare meat when in their human form. For Thirteen, though, it had always been her favorite way to have it.
Realizing how much adrenaline had been pumping through her system, Thirteen set down Darin's steak for a moment and pulled out a lard t-bone for herself as well. The smell of the cow's meat and blood was wonderful, making her salivate just to smell it. With the two plates in hand, Thirteen made her way back to the sleeping area and smiled meekly at Darin. "I'm not much of a cook," she teased as she handed him his plate, truly hoping he didn't want it cooked. Of course, Thirteen could cook, she just preferred not to.

Darin nodded and smiled, then toppled over when she moved. He had shifted and kicked off his boots before moving and sitting up and against the head of her bed. He looked at her and nodded with a grin.
"I tend to eat raw steaks when I want and need the taste of flesh and blood. hehe Though I recently tried a steak of Buffalo.. now that is rather good.. you should try it.. Oh and you're a wonderful cook", he grinned as she handed him his plate.
He smelled the meat and blood, the herbs a nice touch to it. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, they seemed to shift to his lycanthrope eyes, glowing somewhat before he sat the plate on his lap and then grabbed it with his hands beofre biting and tearing at it. It was ungentleman of him, but he was being somewhat of himself. He licked his lips and sighed contently as he continued to eat, then licking his fingers and hands, then making sure his face was clean, by wiping it with his hand, then licking it if there was something on it, lastly licking the plate before he smiled and looked at her.
"Sorry.. I tend to do that on occasion.. hehe Oh and I had meant by insane.. because I was getting weirder than normal. Oh and the Steak was really good", he said alittle cutely and quickly.

Thirteen was surprised by Darin's actions, but happy to see a more relaxed side of him. He always seemed formal, like a prince should be, but it was sometimes frustrating to she who spent so much time trying to be the opposite of what she was.
Since Darin was being laid back, Thirteen's eyes also changed to their black Lycanthrope color and her teeth sharpened so she could easily tear through the meat. When Darin apologized, Thirteen shook her head. "Don't be sorry, I'm happy that you can be yourself around me." She smiled and took his plate and hers back to the kitchen, where she set them in the sink to clean later.
"Now, you should rest. You still look... well... you look sort of terrible, Tarik," Thirteen admitted with a sheepish grin, hoping he wouldn't mind her brutal honesty. She was concerned for him and hoped sleeping would help speed him the healing process. If it didn't... she wasn't sure what she would do, other than give him some of her own blood, since that had worked in the past for other Lycan friends who needed it. Lycanthrope blood, to other Lycans, was just like a blood transfusion for a human, but Thirteen preferred only to use it as a last resort for healing.
"Come, let's rest. In the morning, everything will be fine once more," she said, climbing into the bed beside Darin and hoping he would be able to rest well. Thirteen wasn't really tired- she had slept a couple days ago- but was happy to be laying beside Darin for comfort. Growing up, she had always been surrounded by others and hated when she rested alone. Exactly why I've always had some form of lover beside me for comfort at night, she thought bitterly. And to think, all those years she could have had Darin beside her in total bliss.

Darin chuckled and nodded. He grinned as she stated how terrible he looked. He sighed softly and nodded, trying not to tease her. He shifted and then pulled her bed covers back and sliding in and underneath the covers before holding them up for her, his arm going to wrap around her anyway.
"I may look terrible, but I do terrible good", he grinned with a smile and continued, "And I'm happy to have a good morning.. only because you're with me. And I promise to be more of myself instead of being the gentleman I've always been.. I guess I like the idea of being your prince charming.. But ok.. I'll be the dorky, abit weird prince charming of yours".

Thirteen grinned as she cuddled up next to Darin. "You mean you'll me just as you where when we were pups?" She said sweetly. Memories of the two playing together as children flooded her mind and she couldn't but smile as she nuzzled his ear. "Back before we even knew we were meant for each other... I think you changed when you discovered you had feelings for me."
She hoped her words weren't too blunt, but Thirteen couldn't help it. It was true, really, now that she thought about it. He had begun to act more formal toward her around the time her feelings for him developed, and perhaps it was the same for him. With a small shrug, Thirteen closed her eyes. Darin smelled of blood, but she didn't care, as long as the blood was just stains instead of fresh. It seemed all his wounds were healing, albeit slowly.

Darin smiled and looked at her, gently caressing her cheek.
"Yes.. I am sorry.. I changed because I thought that if I acted more like a gentleman and was mature.. you'd like me more.. I dunno.. I wanted to impress you".
He kissed her forehead and closed his eyes, slowly falling asleep with his arms around her. Finally at peace.

Thirteen lay perfectly still, awake for quite sometime as she thought on Darin's words. Did she seem mature, even back then, and make Tarik think that she only wanted someone who was mature as well? She had always thought that she had stayed herself, but perhaps she had been wrong all those years.
When she finally dosed off, the Lycaness had a terrifying dream...
It was long ago, but something was different... the war had not yet come to pass, but something else had instead. The humans had learned of the Lycanthrope's problem with silver. How, she could not be sure, but it was truly just a melding of various parts of her past. The Egyptians were angry with the Lycans for an unknown reason and, having grown very bitter, they attacked.
Thirteen had fought hard and had survived, but she saw two things which tore her heart to pieces. Her mother was already dead, there was nothing Thirteen could do to help... but Tarik... he was so still that she could barely see his chest rise and fall with breath. He was dying... and she was helpless... but the humans, they were dying alongside the Lycans in this mess of a massacre. In fact, more of them were dying than the Lycans... no wondered they so feared the strange creatures that Thirteen and her family were. But Tarik... could she forgive them for such a mess? Well, why not? Someone's love could have been lying nearby where Tarik was, and they could be in the exact same agony...
Writhing and crying as she slept, Thirteen's very soul battled over something she had long held bitterness to. Things were changing, but they were causing a great turmoil within her and she felt ill over the whole mess. But she could not be sick, for Darin was the one who was still in pain. She was sweating in her sleep, but her body was shivering with fever. She had not the strength to take care of Darin, though, as she fought her own self in her mind and heart.

Darin groaned as something seemed to writhe next to him. He moved and woke up, wincing alittle at a slight pain in his stomach. He turned and looked at Thirteen, she seemed to be in turmoil and she was sweating with a fever. He instantly moved out of bed and got a wash cloth, wetting it and then letting it cool as he walked back, he placed the wash cloth on her head and then held her tight. Something was disturbing her, but he didn't know what. He just held her close and soon woke her up as he wiped her face with the cool cloth before placing it back to her fore head.
"Sekhmet, love, wake.. you are alright and safe, please wake up".

Sekhmet, love, wake... Thirteen had no idea what was going on. How could she hear Tarik's voice when his dying self was laying right in front of her? It was an impossible situation, causing more confusion.
She was hurting deep within. "No, don't go..." she murmured aloud, not knowing she was speaking. Curling up into a little ball, Thirteen looked like a pup rather than a full-grown Lycan. She was terrified and wanted nothing but to wake up and find a living Tarik once more, but she wasn't sure what was reality and what wasn't.
Extreme feelings of hate were going head-to-head with the extraordinary amount of love Thirteen felt for Darin, causing a great battle within her... and what a terrible thing it was. With the smell of Darin's blood still fresh on his shirt, it made everything in Thirteen's dream world that much more realistic. Her hands balled into fists as she slept, drawing up her own blood so it mixed with the smell of Darin's. It was a terrible nightmare.

Darin began to worry. He looked at himself and then moved, pulling his shirt off and anything that was bloody, unfortunately, it meant everything of his except his socks. He then went looking for something to cover him up, finding a small sheet and still remembering to do so, he wrapped it around him like he had once worn in ancient Egypt so long ago. He then moved his bloody and torn clothes as far away from her as possible before he slowly shook her awake, uncurling her and licking her blood before craddling her.
"Thirteen... Sekhmet.. Wake My love, all is well you are only having a bad dream".

Thirteen made her way through what felt like glue and finally fought through the deep, terrible sleep she was in. "Az... Azetipin..." she mumbled, her words barely coherent. Her mouth was dry and she was shaking. Thirteen wanted to ask what was going on, but she had no idea. There was no way it could have been from the silver, so was all this really caused by the thoughts in her head and her heart? There was no way...
"Water?" Thirteen whispered, feeling so parched that she could barely get the word out. Shivering, she snuggled up in the blankets and scooted closer to Darin. Realizing that he was in Egyptian garb, Thirteen didn't know what to think. In her dream, she had been in Egypt, so where was she now? The bed was made from modern materials, though the sheets were Egyptian cotton. The room, though, she could tell, was not a room she had back in Egypt, so she could only guess that it wasn't Ancient Egypt all over again.
Wiping confused tears away from her eyes, Thirteen stared up at Darin, trying to focus on him as she also tried to form words so she could ask him why she felt so cold.

Darin instantly gave her a glass of water and smiled softly. He had a feeling what her dream was about. He looked down at himself and shrugged, the long garb did give him an interesting look. He held Thirteen tight and kissed her head.
"Do not fear my love. I will protect you, even from nightmares. You fell asleep after I did and you had a nightmare, none of it was real.. and as for me, well I figured the best way to get you out of it was to remove all my bloody clothing.. but that left me with nothing to wear, so I did this for cover. You can relax, all is well Sekhmet", he said softly and comfortingly.

Thirteen smiled weakly at Darin's explanation and tried to sit up. Opting out of doing that after a moment, she took a sip of water anyway. "I've never felt like this before," she informed him, hoping that these strange feelings would soon pass. Her heart beat hard in her chest and she rested her hand on Darin's leg so she could be closer to him.
"I think you look handsome," she whispered to him, a coy grin on her face. She wished she could kiss him, but wasn't sure if she should try. Thirteen lay back for a moment and closed her eyes before realizing that there was an emptiness in her heart. This was a good emptiness, though! She was missing bitterness, strangely enough. Sitting up quickly and feeling dizzy, Thirteen set her widened eyes on Darin. "I was... fighting myself," she told him, an odd look in her eyes.
The Lycaness was grinning from ear to ear as she found the dizzy spell from the ebbing fever. "When I found out that Demons did this to you, Neith told me that my hatred was unreasonable... she forgave the humans... so I should to. I didn't want to... but I think I might have... although I still think they're tasty." She ended with a shrug, but Thirteen knew she felt different inside. Something had changed, something she didn't quite understand. A great weight had been lifted off of her shoulders, and she began to wonder if Darin always felt so light... if her mother ever felt so light.
